Sat 30 Sep 2017: TEAM AND INDIVIDUAL SELECTIONS
The Selectors met on Thursday 29 Sep 17, to consider the entries made, verify eligibility, and allocate individuals & teams to the available places. Many Team Managers (TMs) complied with the Application Notice, providing the required information but 41% did not. This resulted in considerable additional work for the Selectors and requires follow up action by some TMs.
All of the Jubilee Challenge (JC) individuals and teams have been accepted. No further action is required from the Jubilee Challenge TMs, until they or their representative attend the Briefing on 14 Oct 17.
Similarly we look forward to seeing Ten Tors Challenge (TTC) TMs on 14 Oct 17. Those TMs of Establishments with codes in the right hand column need to take urgent action in order to qualify and be allocated teams that are in the ‘?’ Column. Actions required are:
If insufficient qualified walking leaders were nominated , in most cases 45m and 55m teams have been moved to the ‘?’ column. However, if you are unable to identify sufficient qualified walking leaders, you are to inform the TT Sec which distance you would like to retain for your qualified leader.
D The name of the TM has been duplicated in the Group Leaders’ section of the entry, which prevented the computer programme from calculating the ratio of qualified TM + GL to teams applied for. Please remove the TMs details from the GL’s page of the data submitted through Your Dashboard.
N Establishment Name: Maximum of 30 characters. Use lower case with, where applicable, the first letter of each word in capitals. To assist indexing do not include ‘The’ as first word.
PI Potential Infringement during TTC 17. Please e mail the final few responses still awaited.
Q Qualifications: The minimum qualifications are in the Responsibilities and Competence section of the Guidance Booklet. The sum of the qualified Team Managers and Group Leaders must be equal to or exceed the number of teams applied for. In some cases, insufficient qualified TMs and GLs were nominated in the entry. In other cases, nominated persons did not have acceptable qualifications listed. For TTC, acceptable qualifications on the drop down list are: ‘MT Mountain Leader Summer or Winter’; ‘MT Hill and Moorland (previously Walking Group Leader’; ‘SWMMLTS Walking Group Leader Summer or Winter’, which is now the SWMMLTS Moorland Walking Leader; JSAT JSMEL, MLS or MLT. If relevant, please also select ‘MT Expedition Skills, previously WGL camping endorsement’ and ‘SWMMLTS Summer Camping Leader’ to indicate experience. Scout qualifications are only acceptable from Scout Establishments.
2 Named by more than one Establishment. This is acceptable for TMs managing more than one Establishment. However, the qualified TM can only count towards one team.
Cotham School You have two entries, Please explain.
Writhlington School CCF and School. Please ensure that you have sufficient qualified walking leaders with different TM/GL for each Establishment.
Up to only 2 teams per distance per Establishment have been allocated or queried. If the TM wants to keep a 3rd as a Reserve, please let the TT Sec know.
Not marked are Establishments that only seem to have one mobile phone with all the GLs sharing it. Please amend.
Please check the details that have been submitted to the database and correct them. It is the TM’s responsibility and should not be delegated.
If a TM doesn’t understand the problem indicated, email SWHQ-TenTors-MAILBOX@mod.uk with your Estb Code and Name in the Subject. Similarly, once the issue has been corrected, please email, if possible before Thu 12 Oct 17, when the Selectors will re-examine the outstanding issues. Hopefully you will be able to solve all the issues before the Team Managers Briefing on 14 Oct 17. If not, the Selectors will be able to advise you before the Briefing starts.
