Tue 6 May 2025: Fire on Dartmoor
As many of you will be aware, a major fire occurred on the north moor over the bank holiday weekend. The fire was successfully extinguished by 1500 hours yesterday.
The affected area spans approximately 12,500 acres, stretching from Fir Tor across to Little Kneeset and Cut Hill. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
This incident will not impact the upcoming Ten Tors event, although please be aware that a heightened fire risk status will be in effect during the expedition. All planned routes remain unaffected, as much of the fire occurred within a Restricted Byelaw Non-Access (RBNA) area, which is already out of bounds to participants.
Please continue planning your routes as normal.
