Employer Engagement

Employer Engagement at Ten Tors recognises and celebrates the vital role that employers play in supporting Defence and wider society.

Delivered jointly with Wessex Reserve Forces and Cadets Association, this event brings together organisations that actively support the Armed Forces community, including employers who advocate for and enable Reservists and Cadet Force Adult Volunteers, and who recognise the value of employing veterans, reservists, cadets and service leavers.

Supporting Defence Through Employment

Employers who engage with Defence make a measurable difference by:

  • Supporting employees who serve as Army Reservists
  • Enabling Cadet Force Adult Volunteers to contribute their time and skills
  • Creating inclusive workplace policies that recognise military commitments
  • Championing the contribution of Defence people within civilian organisations

Employer Engagement highlights how these partnerships strengthen both Defence capability and organisational resilience.

The Value Defence People Bring to the Workplace

Veterans, reservists, cadet force adult volunteers and cadets bring well developed and highly transferable skills into civilian employment, including:

  • Leadership and team management
  • Accountability, reliability and integrity
  • Adaptability and problem solving
  • Experience of operating under pressure and responsibility

Employer Engagement provides an opportunity to understand how these skills are developed through military service, voluntary commitment and structured challenge, and how they translate directly into the workplace.

What Employer Engagement Offers

Invited employers and stakeholders will have the opportunity to:

  • Engage with Defence personnel and representatives
  • Visit the Engagement Village and observe activity at Ten Tors
  • Learn about Defence people, employer support frameworks and best practice
  • Share experiences of employing and supporting members of the Armed Forces community

A Shared Commitment

Employer Engagement at Ten Tors reinforces a shared commitment between Defence, employers and partner organisations to support those who serve, volunteer and contribute across both military and civilian life.

By working together, employers help ensure that service, leadership and voluntary commitment are recognised, supported and valued long after the challenge is complete.
